My paintings go off into a bit of a tangent. Using patterns from walls or doors, for instance, I coax portraits from
what I see. I’ve even done them on tables in restaurants—using the marble pattern to depict faces and then leaving them for people to enjoy. They’re temporary, of course. The waiter washes the table, and the pictures go away!
